Most women come to me looking for the one thing that will finally fix it.
The supplement. The protocol. The reset. The powder someone swore by on Instagram. And I understand it, because when you have been tired and bloated and foggy for a long time, you want the fastest road out. You want to buy your way back to feeling like yourself.
But here is what I have watched happen over and over again.
You can spend hundreds of dollars on the perfect supplement stack, and it will do almost nothing if you are barely sleeping, skipping meals until two in the afternoon, and running your nervous system in survival mode from the moment your feet hit the floor.
Why the expensive stuff isn’t working
The wellness industry is worth trillions of dollars now, and almost no one wants to tell you that the most powerful things you can do for your body cannot be bought.
Think about what actually moves the needle on how you feel.
It is the night you finally slept all the way through and woke up before your alarm instead of dreading it.
It is the morning you stepped outside with your coffee and let the light hit your face for two minutes before the day pulled you under.
It is eating a real breakfast with some protein in it, so your blood sugar holds steady and you are not white-knuckling your way to the afternoon.
It is the long exhale you take before you turn around and answer your kid, instead of snapping and feeling terrible about it an hour later.
None of that costs a thing. And none of it is for sale, which is exactly why no one is putting it in front of you.
There is no ad budget behind sleep. So it gets skipped, and then we wonder why the expensive stuff never quite works.
You can't pour into a leaky cup
I am not saying supplements never matter. Sometimes they really do, and when they are the right ones with a strategy behind them, they can be invaluable. But a supplement sitting on top of a body that is under-slept, under-nourished, and constantly stressed is like pouring water into a cup with a hole in the bottom. You keep refilling and refilling and you never understand why it stays empty.
The foundations are the cup.
And I know how this sounds when you are already stretched thin. Sleep more, when you have kids waking you up. Eat protein at breakfast, when breakfast is coffee in the car. Manage your stress, when your whole life is the stress. I get it. This is exactly why I do not ask anyone to do all of it perfectly, or all of it at once.
We are not chasing perfect here. Missing one day does not undo anything. It is not a slippery slope, and it does not mean you failed. The next morning you simply get to choose again. That is the whole thing. Gentle consistency, one step at a time, in a way that actually fits the life you already have.
So if you have been throwing money at your symptoms and feeling frustrated that nothing is landing, I want you to know it is probably not because you found the wrong product. It is usually because the foundation underneath it has not been supported yet, and no protocol can compensate for that.
Start with the free things
So start there. Not with the thing you order online, but with the breakfast you actually eat and the bedtime you actually keep and the few minutes of quiet you give your nervous system before the noise starts. Pick one and let it get boring. Let it become the thing you do without thinking about it. Because these are not the little prerequisites you rush through so the real healing can begin. They are the real healing. Everything else is just support on top of them.
